JAKARTA FASHION WEEK 2018 STARTS ON OCTOBER 2017

Jakarta, September 28, 2017 – The biggest fashion week in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) will soon starts on October 21 – 27, 2017 at Senayan City. More than 200 designers both local and International, includes from Australia, Swedish, India, Japan, South Korea, and England is getting ready to showcase their latest and best collection that will shape the fashion future trend in Indonesia for 2018.

This year JFW would be special because JFW has stepped out 10 years as a platform in Indonesia’s fashion industry by committed to upbringing Indonesia’s designers – especially for Indonesia Fashion Forward (IFF) – to reach International market. Carrying a theme ‘Bhinneka dan Berkarya’, for every year JFW held is a real hard work in positioning Jakarta and Indonesia as a center of a fashion industry that reckoned in the eye of the world.

“For these 10 years, JFW has reflects of what Indonesia’s fashion industry is about in a small scale which consists of different individuals, fashion genres, materials and also themes which moves dynamically to creates Indonesian masterpiece,” said Lenni Tedja as Director of Jakarta Fashion Week. “This work of art has also involved by many stakeholders. Fashion with all the differences has united Indonesia and took it further to the International fashion industry. It was now seen from the collections that made by local designer that has reaching out international market and deserve to compete with international designers,” she added.

Since 2017, various activities and programs held by Jakarta Fashion Week. Start from workshop, competition, factory and cultural visit, until sending and facilitating numbers of Indonesian designers to participate at world fashion week such as Paris, London, New Delhi, Melbourne, Tokyo, Seoul, Guangzhou, and also sent out winners of Jakarta Fashion Week Model Search 2017 to Asia Model Festival 2017 in Seoul, South Korea.

Another collaboration also held by Jakarta Fashion Week every year with International partners, not only in Asia-Pacific, but also from Europe. By the partnership that JFW holds, JFW holds various development programs for Indonesian designer to encourage and promote them to enter international fashion industry. For example, collaborative collection between Bateeq, which also part of Indonesia Fashion Forward, with Suzuki Takayuki from Japan in Jakarta Fashion Week 2016 and 2017. Other than that, collaboration between Norma Hauri and Restu Anggraini with Japan Textile Company named UTIC and Toray Industries.

Not only in terms of creativity, designers also taught to survive in fashion business, one of which is by having a collaboration in FashionLab between Jakarta Fashion Week with Galeries Lafayette that located in Pacific Place, Jakarta this mid-year.

“Achievements that have been reached by Indonesian designers were highly encouraging and appreciation from supporting countries has never stopped. All these achievements was a result from the never ending quality programs that created and followed by the hard work from all parties who involved in Jakarta Fashion Week,” explained Lenni.

The successful 10 years of Jakarta Fashion Week is here because of the support from business partners, one of the many is Senayan City.

“For the 5th times, Senayan City has become part of JFW celebration by becoming the official venue from the biggest fashion week in South East Asia, Jakarta Fashion Week 2018. 3 separate areas in Senayan City will be home for fashion enthusiast to enjoy numbers of fashion event. From Fashion Tent JFW 2018 at Jl. TPH, Fashion Atrium at 1st Floor, and The Hall 8th Floor. The celebration of JFW 2018 has started earlier in Senayan City by presenting pop-up store Fashionlink X #BLCKVNUE at 1st floor. This pop up store is collaboration between Senayan City and Jakarta Fashion Week, featuring a ready-to-wear collection and accessories from 29 designers and local brand in Indonesia,” said Veri Y. Setiady as CEO Senayan City.

Jakarta Fashion Week 2018 will be packed with lines of fashion runway collaboration with partners and also Government institutions, such as Badan Ekonomi Kreatif (BEKRAF), Dewan Kerajinan Nasional tingkat Daerah (DEKRANASDA) DKI Jakarta, as well as various organizations from international cultural center, such as Australian Embassy, The British Council, Embassy of Sweden, Korea Creative Content Agency, Korea Model Association, Japan Fashion Week Tokyo, Fashion Design Council of India.

JFW 2018 will also present various talk show, competition for designers and fashion enthusiast that held by all partners.
